Managing the economic impacts of disasters on the most vulnerable populations continues to be an important challenge for the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean. Countries need to move from a disaster-oriented approach to one that prioritizes improving resilience and reducing vulnerability.

In this context, the IDB has launched the series of virtual seminars “Building resilience”, with the aim of disseminating relevant knowledge and promoting the exchange of good practices.

In the fifth virtual seminar “Reducing the risk of disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean”, together with representatives of Barbados, Bolivia, Spain and the Dominican Republic, we will learn about experiences in the development of policies and investments to strengthen resilience in the face of these events.
