BNDES and Eneva support forest recovery in four conservation units in Amazonas
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the natural gas exploration and production private firm Eneva have announced a partnership to promote forest recovery in four conservation units in the state of Amazonas in Brazil, through the BNDES “Floresta Viva” initiative.
The partnership involves mainly two selected projects (“Productive Ecological Restoration” and “Reflora”) aimed at ecological restoration and agroforestry systems to be implemented on a 400-hectares total surface of degraded areas, which will also generate income opportunities for local communities. The projects will have a 48-month execution period and an estimated investment for an amount in local currency equivalent to approximately 2 million dollars.
