In March 2022, Brazil’s National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) launched a public call for the acquisition of carbon credits, inviting participation in a selective process to submit technical and commercial proposals for REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation), reforestation and energy projects, with the objective of acquiring carbon credits from BNDESPAR.

The conclusion of the selection stage of the public call for acquisition of up to 2.1 million dollars in carbon credits was recently announced. The companies Biofílica, Solví, Carbono Sostenible, Carbonext and Tembici are among the selected proposals. After the selection process, the projects will go through a due dilligence that will consider technical and legal assessments to be carried out by BNDES teams. The selected projects are:

• Biofílica Investimentos Ambientais: conservation of the Amazon rainforest (REDD+) that covers 94,289 hectares.
• Carbonext Teconologia em Soluções Ambientais: forest conservation actions (REDD+) and social development and biodiversity in Bukhari (Acre), in an area of ​​20,669 hectares .
• Revita Engenharia: generate energy from methane in a sanitary landfill located in Quatá (São Paulo).
• Sustainable Carbon – Projetos Ambientais and Cerâmica Gomes de Mattos: replace fuel with renewable biomass in the municipality of Crato (Ceará).
• Tembici Participações, Transportes Sustentáveis ​​and M2 Soluções em Engenharia: shared bicycle services in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
