BNDES launches program to boost investments in native forests in the country

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has announced the launch of the “BNDES Florestas Crédito” program, which aims to stimulate private investments in native species reforestation, with impacts on the restoration value chain, carbon capture from the atmosphere, among other socio-environmental benefits.
The program has received resources summing up approximately 180 million dollars, funded by the Climate Fund (with 82 million dollars), and the remaining with BNDES’ own resources. Companies with eligible projects will access to loans with subsidized rates for a term of up to 300 months with a 96-month grace period. Credit operations will be structured mainly in the Project Finance scheme.
