Certified Climate Bonds: the role of Approved Verifiers in Latin America
According to the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), Approved Verifiers increase the integrity and credibility of green issuances and entities, as their work ensures that funds are allocated to projects that deliver genuine environmental benefits, from renewable energy to sustainable transport and beyond.
CBI remarks Pacific Corporate Sustainability Latam (PCS), as an Approved Verifier that has conducted 12 verifications under the Climate Bonds Standard since 2020 with a total issuance amount of 0.5 billion dollars in the Energy, Forestry and Low Carbon Trasport sectors in several Latin American countries including Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
The article also describes some recent examples of Certified green bond issuances verified by PCS, like those from Banco de Desarrollo Productivo – Sociedad Anonima Mixta (BDP-SAM) from Bolivia and BICSA Factoring from Panama.
