Chile launches climate change descriptors to report public investment

By the end of November, the Chilean Ministry of Finance held a workshop in which it presented new descriptors that allow public institutions to identify and mark investment initiatives that contribute to the objectives related to mitigation and/or adaptation to climate change in the National Investment System (SNI) of Chile, in compliance with the provisions of the Framework Law on Climate Change.

The creation of this tool is the result of inter-institutional work developed since 2023 with the collaboration of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), between the Ministry of Finance, the Budget Directorate, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

In particular, the UNDP Program team presented guidelines for optimal use of the descriptors, and other instruments developed, to support project formulation teams in their implementation and monitoring.
