ESG sustainable debt issuance in Argentina registers a historical record
The National Securities Commission (CNV) of Argentina has published a new report on the evolution and achievements of the sustainable debt market in Argentina, corresponding to the third quarter of 2023 (Q3’23).
During 3Q’23, twelve social, green, sustainable and sustainability-linked bonds (called SVS+) have been issued summing up 204.4 million dollars, being the record quarter both in quantity and amount issued since the beginning of the thematic market in Argentina in year 2019. Considering 2023 year to date (up to September), 25 SVS+ bonds have been issued for an amount of 595 million dollars. Green label leads with 40% of SVS+ issuances in 2023, a percentage that grows to 59% if the total bonds placed since 2019 are considered. Regarding the sectorial breakdown, renewable energy represents the largest share in historical financing, being the construction of wind farms the main use of proceeds.
The majority of the SVS+ bonds issued are listed in the special market panels of the stock exchange Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos (BYMA).
