Global Sustainable debt volume hits 6 trillion dollars milestone
07/15/2025 Since 4 months
Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) confirmed that the total volume of green, social, sustainability, and sustainability-linked bonds (GSS+), issued in alignment with its Climate Bonds Dataset Methodologies, has surpassed the 6 trillion dollars milestone.
Previous milestones were 5 trillion dollars in May 2024 (14 months interval) and 4 trillion dollars in April 2023 (13 months interval). CBI expects that trillions will be priced annually well before 2030.
Finally, CBI states that despite heightened financial volatility in first months of 2025, growing political mobilisation and increased investor scrutiny create opportunities to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy.
