IDB Invest and JICA announce financing to Mibanco to support micro and small businesses in Peru

Mibanco, a Peruvian bank specialized in promoting and expanding access to financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Peru, has announced the signing of a financing agreement of up to 100 million dollars with IDB Invest and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with the aim of strengthening the bank’s portfolio of women-led MSMEs.
The financing scheme consists of a senior loan of up to 50 million dollars from IDB Invest, complemented by an equal amount parallel loan from JICA.
Moreover, IDB Invest will provide technical advice to MiBanco to strengthen its value proposition for women-led MSMEs by delving deeper into their differentiated needs, identifying the structural barriers they face, and providing comprehensive financial and non-financial solutions to help their businesses grow.
