IDB Invest drives Banistmo’s first sustainable bond in Panama

Banistmo, one of Panama’s leading financial institutions and a subsidiary of Bancolombia, has successfully completed its first sustainable bond issuance, raising 100 million dollars with support from IDB Invest.

The proceeds will be used to expand access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by women, as well as for projects focused on climate resilience and adaptation.

IDB Invest participated as an anchor investor, subscribing to up to 75 million dollars of the total issued amount. Moreover, IDB Invest provided technical assistance to Banistmo to strengthen its sustainable bond framework and its sustainable finance strategy.
