IDB Lab to Foster Bioeconomy in the Amazon Region with Two New Initiatives
IDB Lab, the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank, has announced the launch of two innovative initiatives (ReGenerate for the Amazon and Amazon BeEco) to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable development in the Amazon basin, during the “IDB Invest Sustainability Week” event.
• ReGenerate for the Amazon consists of an accelerator and fund to invest in bioeconomy companies with high regenerative potential that operate in Amazon countries (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname). The Fund will be managed by KTPL/Kaeté, a local fund management company with extensive experience in identifying sustainable bio-businesses in their early stages.
• Amazon BeEco is a training project on sustainable skills that will allow, within a period of four years, to benefit 8,000 families and enable sustainable management of at least 400,000 hectares of land in the Amazon region within four years.
