Internacional de Inversiones (IDEI), developer of sustainable real estate projects in Mexico, issued a green bond for an amount equivalent to 46.4 million dollars in local currency with the purpose of promoting sustainable construction in Mexico.
The issuance, carried out in two series (with amount of 29 and 17.4 million dollars, respectively), is backed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with a stock market guarantee for 50 percent of the amount issued.
The resources obtained will be used to finance the construction of additional square meters in properties with Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification, created by IFC, with the aim of improving its energy efficiency between 20% and 40%. The EDGE methodology helps real estate developers to certify their buildings as green in a fast, easy and affordable way.
