Latin America and the Caribbean Ministers of Finance to work on biodiversity

During an event held at the United Nations Biodiversity Conference 2024 (COP16), the members of the “Regional Climate Change Platform of Economy and Finance Ministries of Latin America and the Caribbean” (a network established in 2022 with 26 members countries and IDB support) announced the establishment of a new working group to support the integration of biodiversity conservation into fiscal and financial policies across the region.
The working group, to be chaired by Uruguay and Belize, will seek to build a fiscal policy agenda for biodiversity and natural capital and study cases of natural capital measurement in the region from a fiscal risk perspective.
