Peru to Expand Access to Productive, Sustainable Electricity in the Amazon with IDB Support

10/22/2025 Since 3 weeks

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a 200 million dollars Conditional Credit Line for Investment Projects (CCLIP) to support Peru in implementing a sustainable and productive rural electrification program in its Amazon region.

The first 70 million dollars loan under the CCLIP, which has a 17-year repayment term, will drive sustainable development in the area through access to renewable energy. Peruvian partners will contribute an additional 18 million dollars.

The program will provide 25 rural locations with access to reliable and environmentally sustainable electricity through hybrid mini-grids that integrate solar energy and battery storage. It is estimated that will benefit 7,600 rural households and over 30,000 people.
