Power company EGE Haina carries out the first green bond issuance in the Dominican Republic
01/03/2022 Since 2 years

The power company EGE Haina managed to place green bonds for an amount of 20 million to promote wind power generation, the first issue of its kind in the Dominican Republic.

The bonds are fixed-rate bonds at 5.15% per annum in dollars with semi-annual payments and annual principal amortisations, maturing in 2036. The issue, heavily oversubscribed (15x), corresponds to the first tranche of the Larimar I Public Offering Trust with authorisation for up to USD 100 million.

The proceeds will be used to finance the expansion of the installed capacity of the Larimar I wind farm from the current 176 MW to 296 MW.
