Suzano targets bioeconomy with VC fund

Brazilian pulp and paper company Suzano plans to put $70 million in its first venture capital fund to provide financing to start-ups.
The fund intends to acquire minority stakes of 10% to 40% in companies to foster innovation.
Suzano is looking at forest-based innovations related to the bioeconomy, and areas of interest include new materials based on cellulose biomass derived from eucalyptus, paper-based sustainable packaging, agriculture technology and technologies to capture carbon.
