Argentina launches tenders for renewable energy generation for rural communities
08/17/2021 Since 3 years

The Renewable Energy in Rural Markets Project (PERMER), called for bids (LPN No. 5/2021) in July for the design, construction or expansion and initial operation of four renewable energy generating plants that will supply four rural localities in the provinces of Río Negro and Catamarca, with an estimated budget of USD 6.5 million. The project is being implemented through IBRD Loan No. 8484 (IBRD: International Bank for Reconstruction and Development).

In addition, in mid-August, Energía launched a tender (LPN N°6/2021) for a network to provide electricity from renewable sources to eight indigenous communities in Salta. The isolated grid will be powered by a 1.2 MW solar photovoltaic plant that will supply more than 400 families and numerous public buildings in the Luracatao Valley, in the Molinos department, with an investment of approximately USD 6 million.

The PERMER project, under the Undersecretariat of Electric Energy, promotes social inclusion and socio-economic development of people living in energy poverty through the electrification of homes, schools, primary health care centres, agglomerate communities and small productive enterprises in areas that do not have access to the electricity distribution network.
