BCI issues first public green bond by Chilean bank abroad

Chile’s Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (BCI) announced the issuance of a green bond in the European market for an amount in Swiss francs equivalent to approximately USD 216 million, for a term of 5.25 years and at a placement rate of 0.5994%.
The funds will be used to finance renewable energy, clean transport, energy efficiency and sustainable water management projects.
This is the third green bond issued by BCI under the General Framework for Sustainable Finance. With this transaction BCI becomes the first Chilean bank to issue a public green bond outside the country, which was rated A2 by Moody’s and A- by S&P. BCI was advised by European banks BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse.
