The green finance agenda of the Argentinean CNV at the Argentinean Congress on Environmental Law
05/05/2022 Since 2 years

The VIII Argentinean Congress on Environmental Law was recently held at the Law School of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. The director of the National Securities Commission (CNV), Matías Isasa, participated in the space entitled “Financial instruments and the role of companies in the conservation of public goods”. During his presentation, the director of the CNV recalled that currently the panel of green, social and sustainable bonds presents more than 25 certified issues.

The CNV has been implementing a series of initiatives since 2021 in this area, with specific regulations, collective investment vehicles, products and instruments aimed at advancing the development of a sustainable finance industry. A relevant example is the Sustainable Finance Programme, which has three guides related to: 1) Socially Responsible Investment in the Argentine Capital Market, 2) the Issuance of Social, Green and Sustainable Bonds and 3) SVS External Bond Evaluators.

Other noteworthy measures have been the approval of several ESG Open-end Mutual Funds and the issuance of a social bond by a civil association.
