21 rural electrification projects in Peru put out to tender
11/03/2021 Since 3 years

The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines has called for bids for 21 rural electrification projects. These represent a total investment of 355 million soles (equivalent to 88 million dollars) that are estimated to benefit more than 91,000 people.

These projects are part of the National Rural Electrification Plan, which aims to serve low-income communities in different regions. In nine projects, renewable energies will be used through the installation of solar power plants with their respective electricity grids (minigrids) for communities with concentrated housing and individual photovoltaic systems in communities with scattered housing.

This initiative is expected to contribute to achieving the goal of 96% rural electricity coverage by 2023 and universal access to electricity in rural areas of the country by 2026, which is one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by Peru.
