The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) of Brazil has approved financing -through its instrument BNDES Finem- for an amount in local currency equivalent to about 650 million dollars for the implementation of two wind complexes and one solar complex, as well as as the associated transmission lines, in the Brazilian states of Bahia and Minas Gerais.

The 3 projects add up to an installed capacity of 1.5 GW with a total investment of approximately 2 billion dollars, which will generate the necessary energy to serve nearly 2.6 million households. It is estimated that more than 8.6 million tons of CO2 equivalent will be avoided throughout the projects’ lifespan.

• Serra do Assuruá Wind Complex (Engie Group): Composed of 24 wind farms with a total capacity of 0.8 GW in the state of Bahia, which will come into operation from mid-2024.
• Novo Horizonte Wind Complex (Pan American Energy Group): Composed of 10 wind farms with a total capacity of 0.4 GW in the state of Bahia.
• Boa Sorte Solar Complex (Atlas Group): Composed of 8 photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 0.2 GW in the state of Minas Gerais, with estimated start-up in early 2025.
