The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) will finance (in project finance approach) the construction of four wind farms located in the Bahian municipalities of Várzea Nova and Morro do Chapéu in Brazil and controlled by the power generation company Casa dos Ventos, for an amount in local currency equivalent to about 130 million dollars.

The installed capacities of the four wind farms totalize 288 MW, enough to serve approximately 744 thousand households. The resulting power generation will make it possible to avoid GHG emissions equivalent to more than 2.8 million tCO2e.

The wind farms supported by BNDES make up the Babilônia Sur Wind Complex. In line with the BNDES strategy to encourage co-financing, the Complex will also receive funds from the issuance of infrastructure bonds from the Northeast Development Fund (FDNE) and Banco do Nordeste, in addition to funds from Grupo Casa dos Ventos. The proceeds will be used to buy national wind turbines, carry out civil works and provide specialized technical services.
