Brazilian National Civil Defense transfers nearly 1.6 million dollars to 21 municipalities affected by natural disasters
08/31/2022 Since 2 years

The National Civil Defense from the Ministry of Regional Development of Brazil will allocate approximately 1.6 million dollars for municipalities affected by natural disasters. The resources will be distributed among 21 municipalities in the states of Alagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul.

In the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, mainly affected by forest fires, the resources will be used to purchase fuel, food, personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms, in addition to the rental of transportation (boats, cars and planes) and accommodation. While in Minas Gerais, affected by intense rains, the resources will allow the construction of a concrete bridge.

Civil Defense actions involve relief, victim assistance, restoration of essential services, and reconstruction of destroyed or damaged infrastructure. The affected cities can make their requests for assistance through the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD).
