San Miguel, fruit production and marketing company in Argentina, issued the first negotiable sustainability-linked bond (SLB) in the country for USD 50 million.
Under this instrument, San Miguel commits to achieve 66% renewable energy of the total electricity consumption demanded at the Famaillá Industrial Complex (Tucumán) within 12 months from 30 September 2021, generating an average saving of 6,300 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Santander led the placement of this bond and consolidated its leadership in the segment: in the first half of 2021 it participated in 32 issues for more than USD 1.2 billion, accounting for 79% of the total corporate bond market.
