By the end of September 2022, the street lighting tender for Curitiba (Paraná state’s capital city in southern Brazil) was successfully concluded, which will involve the modernization of about 157 thousand light points with LED luminaires. Engie Soluções de Iluminação Pública, represented by Terra, was the bidder awarded.

The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project for street lighting in Curitiba was structured by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), in association with a consortium of consultants Accenture – Moysés & Pires. BNDES advised the municipality in the development of all stages of the project: technical studies, economic-financial modeling and drafting of the public announcement and contract.

The concession of the service seeks to generate: i) direct positive impact on the perception of safety and life quality of the population, ii) revitalization of tourism and local economic activity, iii) emissions reduction by about 7 thousand tons of CO2 per year, in addition to iv) a significant reduction in the electricity bill related to street lighting paid by the City Council.
