IDB to promote carbon markets during the Latin American Climate Summit in Brazil
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will promote the debate on concrete opportunities generated by carbon credit markets during the Latin America Climate Summit 2022 organized by IETA, to be held October 18-19 at the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro.

With the participation of leading Latin American and global experts in carbon markets, IDB leaders and big names in banking in the region, the Latin America Climate Summit 2022 will address concrete solutions and challenges to explore the multi-billion dollar potential of carbon markets for the economy and for the preservation of the environment.

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the IDB will participate in the following sessions:
• 9:00 am – Opening, with IDB Representative in Brazil, Morgan Doyle; Governor of Rio, Claudio Castro, IETA CEO, Dirk Forrister, and Executive Director of Rio’s Sustainable Development Authority, Paulo Protásio.
• 10:15 am – Panel: Carbon Market Pricing in Latin America: Trends, Perspectives and Innovative Approaches, with Juan Kétterer, Chief of the IDB’s Capital Markets and Development Finance Institutions Division.
• 14:45 – Parallel session moderated by the editor of the ESG section of Valor Econômico, Naiara Bertão: Voluntary Carbon Market in Brazil: Contributions from the Financial Innovation Laboratory (LAB), with opening remarks by IDB’s Senior Financial Markets Specialist, Eduardo Sierra, and CVM Superintendent, José Alexandre Vasco.
