The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), with the support of KfW and Natural Intelligence (NINT), has published a new Blue Bonds Taxonomy that will allow to channel resources into sustainable projects in coastal areas and preserve the fragile marine ecosystem.
The eligible categories defined in the taxonomy include projects related to Water Resources Protection, Sustainable Water Management, Renewable Energy, Blue Economy, and Nature Protection.
The new taxonomy is based on the ” Blue Bond Reference Paper Investments” and the “Sustainable Ocean Principles” published by the United Nations Global Compact, and is also aligned with both the Climate Bonds Initiative’s Green Taxonomy and with the European Union Taxonomy.
