Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM), a company dedicated to the extraction and processing of lithium, has announced the issuance of senior unsecured green bonds for a sum of 750 million dollars, maturing in 10 years with an annual yield of 6,5%. All or part of the resources obtained will be used for investment in eligible green projects underway and/or future. These projects include expenditures for the development, expansion, operation and maintenance of lithium extraction and processing projects, and production of lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate, solids relevant to applications related to clean transportation and energy efficiency.

As background, SQM had already issued green bonds in September 2021 for an amount of 700 million dollars with a 30-year term with an interest rate of 3.5% per year.
