The Peruvian Government has been awarded the prestigious “Pioneer of Just Transition” Award at the 9th edition of the Climate Bonds Awards, organized by Climate Bonds Initiative, in recognition of its outstanding sustainable sovereign bond issuance and its commitment to a fair, inclusive and environmentally responsible economy.

This award is given to Peru for the issuance of its fourth sustainable bond in June 2023, which was the first sustainable bond in local currency for S/. 16,358 million issued by the country, which strengthened the management of public debt and the dynamization of the domestic capital market, ratifying Peru’s commitments towards a fairer and more inclusive economy.

Peru’s just transition policies include improving social support programs, boosting economic growth and adopting digitalization as a driver of productivity, in order to move towards an environmentally responsible economy in the fairest and most inclusive way for all Peruvians.
