The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) of Brazil has announced investments for an amount in local currency equivalent to about 10 million dollars in cooperation agreements with the Bank of Brazil Foundation and with the Bank of the Northeast of Brazil (BNB).

The association between BNDES and the Bank of Brazil Foundation will support the construction of 1,400 water collection and storage cisterns for food production by farmers on rural properties in 17 Brazilian semi-arid municipalities. The investment will sum up to approximately 8 million dollars.

While the agreement with the Bank of the Northeast of Brazil will support the ecological restoration of biomes such as the caatinga (one of the biomes with the greatest potential for carbon sequestration) in the northeast region of Brazil with an approximately 2-million dollars investment, within the framework of the Floresta Viva program.
