The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the French Development Agency (AFD) have signed an agreement to negotiate the raising of approximately 200 million euros for the financing of green and sustainable infrastructure projects in the Legal Amazon and in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil.

The resources will be allocated to finance projects in the low-carbon emissions transportation and mobility sectors, waste management, water and sanitation solutions, sustainable agriculture and livestock, forestry, food and biomaterials production, renewable energy generation (storage, transportation and distribution), bioeconomy and/or sustainable infrastructure.

The agreement also establishes the terms for the discussion of a technical cooperation program on biodiversity, climate, culture, historical heritage, gender, diversity and social inclusion.
