Brazil, through its Ministry of Finance, has announced that it joined the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.
The Coalition, created in 2019, comprises 92 countries and 26 institutional partners that work collaboratively to develop mitigation and adaptation strategies to climate change, promoting the transition to a resilient and low-carbon economy. Member countries adhere to the “Helsinki Principles”, which consist of a set of six statements that encourage national climate action, especially through fiscal policies and the public financing, aligned with the Paris Agreement commitments. Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia also participate from South America.
