Environment elaborated the National Strategy for Sustainable Consumption and Production
12/27/2021 Since 2 years

The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development presented the National Strategy for Sustainable Consumption and Production that seeks to promote the decoupling of economic growth from environmental degradation and intensive use of resources towards a just transition.

The implementation of the strategy aims to promote and educate about sustainable lifestyles; boost demand for higher value, lower impact products and services; and stimulate the productive sector to offer goods and services that improve the quality of life, particularly for vulnerable sectors. In this way, the strategy contributes to the sustainable development objective 12, which establishes guaranteeing sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Its main strategic lines include resource efficiency; pollution reduction; sustainable consumption and lifestyles; innovation and knowledge; state leadership; and information and awareness raising.

The document was developed through a participatory process of consultation and dialogue with more than 50 stakeholders and based on scientific studies by the International Resource Panel of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
