EPA (US) launches grant competitions to create National Clean Finance Network
07/14/2023 Since 11 months

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released two $20 billion Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs) in two grant competitions. This call comes as part of the historic $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a programme of the Inflation Reduction Act. These competitive competitions are expected to mobilise private capital in clean technology projects to create high-paying jobs and reduce energy costs.

The first announcement comes under the $14 billion National Clean Investment Fund, which will provide grants to support two to three national clean finance institutions, enabling them to partner with the private sector to provide affordable financing for tens of thousands of clean tech projects across the country. These national non-profits will enable individuals, families, other NGOs, local governments, small businesses and others to access the capital they need to implement a diverse set of clean tech projects in their homes, businesses and communities.

On the other hand, the $6 billion Clean Communities Investment Accelerator will provide grants to support two to seven non-profit organisations, which in turn will enable them to provide financing and technical assistance to public, quasi-public and other NGO community lenders working in disadvantaged and low-income communities.

The deadline for submission of proposals is 12 October 2023.
