The European Union will finance a 1-million-euro project, in alliance with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Invest, to develop capabilities related to environment, society and governance (ESG) topics in Mexico.

The funds will provide the private and public sector in Mexico with a favorable environment to mobilize capital towards investments to accelerate the green economy and the sustainable development of the country. The project will focus on transferring knowledge and generating ESG capabilities in companies, public entities, and financial institutions to strengthen their corporate sustainability and sustainable finance strategies. In addition, it will focus on supporting future issuers of thematic bonds in the development of ambitious use of proceeds frameworks that are aligned with international principles.
