IDB centers support on social development, climate impact and sustainable growth in Central America and Dominican Republic

The countries of Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic received financing from the IDB Group in 2022 for a value of nearly 4.2 billion dollars.

On February 20th and 21st, the Governors of the Central America and the Dominican Republic held their 36th annual meeting in Belize, and in that context, they met in working sessions with the president of the IDB (Ilan Goldfajn), IDB experts and guest specialists. The Governors provided their perspectives on the priorities that should guide the agenda for the coming years, while the IDB presented its vision to contribute to the sustainable development of the countries of the region, prioritizing policies that foster resilience, with people’s welfare as their core focus.

The IDB president proposed advancing in areas of social development, intensifying efforts to reduce poverty and food insecurity, as well as helping countries to address climate change, invest in sustainable infrastructure, and improve natural disasters risk management systems.
