IDB Invest and Banco BHD promote women-led MSMEs in the Dominican Republic
01/08/2024 Since 4 months

Banco BHD, a private financial institution in the Dominican Republic, will receive a 7-year subordinated loan for 75 million dollars from IDB Invest, that will support the bank to provide greater access to credit to micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) led or owned by women in the country.

IDB Invest and Banco BHD have committed to act as promoters of the “Financing Code for Women Entrepreneurs” (known as WeFinance Code), an initiative that will be led by the private sector in the Dominican Republic to scale up the use of sex-disaggregated data and catalyze actions within the financial ecosystem that support women MSMEs.

In addition, IDB Invest will provide technical advice to Banco BHD addressing the digitization, capture and use of data to segment and adapt the financial offering to businesswomen, among other topics.
