Promoting Inclusion and Gender Equality through the Financial Sector
This IDB Invest shows how the private sector has proactively addressed gender equality and provides concrete examples of what has worked in some Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region companies.
Gender Parity Initiatives (GPIs) are public-private alliances that bring together high-level leaders with the purpose of promoting solutions to accelerate the reduction of economic gender gaps. Through the IPGs, action plans are designed and implemented to increase the labor participation of women, promote their access to leadership positions and reduce the gender pay gap.
The case studies described include the experience of the following companies in the region in promoting IPGs: the cosmetics company Natura (Brazil), the fintech Konfío (Mexico), the textile firm Elcatex (Honduras) and the ecotourism operator Horizontes Nature Tour (Costa Rica).
