Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo S.A. (Sabesp), one of the world’s largest sanitation companies by population served, received a corporate loan in an amount in local currency equivalent to about $90 million from IDB Invest.

The objective of the financing is to improve environmental and sanitation conditions in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region. The resources will be used to finance the optimization and expansion of the sewage network and the expansion of the capacity of the Sewage Treatment Plants: Parque Novo Mundo, São Miguel Paulista and Barueri.

IDB Invest’s advisory services will help align the project’s environmental and social standards with IDB Invest’s Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy, following strict international standards.
