IDB Invest supports renewable projects in Argentina through YPF Luz’s green bond
01/16/2024 Since 3 months

The Project involves the expansion of renewable energy generation capacity throughout Argentina by approximately 160MW considering an estimate of the total new funds to be subscribed through the transaction, which will avoid the emission of approximately 257ktons of CO2 per year.

The total estimated amount of the financing will be up to US$333.5 million, of which IDB Invest will commit up to US$33.5 million. The difference will be subscribed by institutional investors through the sale of IDB Invest’s participation to a Special Purpose Entity (“SPE”), which will finance its participation through a B-Bond.

YPF Luz currently has an installed capacity of 3174 MW, of which 497 MW come from clean energy.  The company has one solar farm located in the province of San Juan and four wind farms, two in the province of Buenos Aires, one in Chubut and one in Santa Cruz, in addition to the one under construction in the province of Córdoba.
