InterEnergy Group announced the issuance of green bonds for a nominal value of 262.7 million dollars. The international bond issue, which matures in year 2038, is the first green bond placement by a private sector company in Central America and the Caribbean.
Citigroup Global Markets Inc. acted as Structuring Advisor, Sole Global Coordinator and Bookrunner. This issuance was also supported by Banco General as local broker dealer, the Superintendencia de Valores de Panamá and Globalbank as letter of credit provider for the reserve accounts. The transaction was registered on both the Panama Stock Exchange and the Singapore Stock Exchange.
InterEnergy Group has a presence in the Dominican Republic, Panama, Jamaica and Chile and is one of the largest diversified clean energy companies in Central America and the Caribbean, with a total generation capacity of 310 MW in Panama, making it one of the top five power generators in the country.
The financing allows the company to continue promoting the consolidation of clean and diversified energy generation, as part of its commitment to sustainable development. With this transaction, the company aims to advance its environmental goals and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
