Toward Enhanced Climate Ambition: Transparency and Digital Governance in Latin America and the Caribbean
05/09/2024 Since 1 month

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) released a new publication that presents an analysis of the state of the art in climate data governance and the implementation of the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

The report is structured into four sections: i) the context to understand the role of transparency and digital governance in advancing climate ambition, ii) an analysis of the ETF in a sample of ten countries from LAC region, iii) a study on the state of open climate data governance and its digitalization, based on a sample of six countries in the region, and iv) the overall conclusions and recommendations.

The authors conclude that having a robust and clear monitoring and reporting system in place can help governments access new instruments and consolidate the operationalization of their climate action, in alignment with the targets set by their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
