The first Climate-related Financial Risks Conference of the Chilean Financial Market Commission (CMF) aims to create an opportunity for regional institutions to build capacity and improve linkages around the management of climate-related financial risks.
The Conference, organised by the CMF with the outstanding support of the Inter-American Development Bank, the Network of Central Banks and Financial Supervisors for the Greening of the Financial System and the British Embassy in Santiago, highlighted that climate change is a reality occurring at breakneck speed and that the transition to a sustainable economy is urgent and necessary.
These phenomena pose significant challenges for the global economy and financial systems, requiring public policies on which countries are making progress.
Physical and transitional risks affect the stability and efficiency of financial sector actors, so climate change needs to be addressed as a priority.
