European Commission issues a new 6 billion euros green bond
11/15/2022 Since 1 year

The European Commission has issued a 6 billion euros NextGenerationEU green bond, with 10-year maturity, due on 4 February 2033.

The European Commission is borrowing on international capital markets on behalf of the European Union (EU) and disbursing the funds to Member States and third countries under various borrowing programmes. Its largest programme is “NextGenerationEU”, of up to around 800 billion euros, which seeks to support Europe’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic through investments in sustainability, digital solutions and resilience.

Considering this green bond, the Commission has issued a total of 35.5 billion euros of NextGenerationEU green bonds to finance green projects under EU Member States’ Recovery and Resilience plans.
