Nucleoeléctrica Argentina places sustainability-linked bonds to finance nuclear energy projects
04/18/2023 Since 1 year

Nucleoeléctrica Argentina, a power generation company that operates three nuclear power plants in Argentina with an installed capacity of 1,736 MW, has placed a 93-million dollars trust, qualified as sustainability-linked bonds.

The proceeds will be used to finance two energy infrastructure projects: i) the lifespan extension of Atucha I Nuclear Power Plant, and ii) the construction of the second spent fuel dry storage for the Atucha Site. The execution of these projects will make it possible to maintain the nuclear share in the Argentine energy matrix and will ensure the generation of clean and reliable energy for one million people for 20 years.

The contribution of nuclear energy is key both in the fight against climate change and on the path towards Argentina’s energy transition. The net generation of Argentine nuclear power plants in the years 2021-2022 allowed emissions avoided equivalent to more than 10 million tons of CO2.
