The Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) and the LA Green Fund launched the “State of the Sustainable Finance Market of Peru 2022”, the first report of its kind on the country. The Peruvian sustainable finance market advances with important milestones to encourage green, social and sustainability issues, such as the Lima Stock Exchange guidelines and discussions to develop a local taxonomy by year 2025.

The report provides a roadmap for Peru’s sustainable financial market growth and identifies stakeholders and their roles in expanding green investments in the country. Based on the CBI taxonomy, the report mapped the most relevant sectors for sustainable financial development in Peru, being: renewable energy, sustainable water management, low carbon agriculture, sustainable forest management, low carbon transport and transition.

The report also describes the barriers to growth in Peru’s sustainable financial market, such as: currency hedging, market liquidity, issuance costs, bankability and channeling, market knowledge, political environment.
