07/19/2023 Since 10 months

Within the framework of the Amazonia Forever regional program, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launches the call to participate in the Amazonia BioStartups Program, an initiative that aims to support scientific and technological ventures focused on the sustainable use and transformation of the Amazon’s renewable biological resources.

The Amazon BioStartups Program will provide funding of up to 80,000 dollars per selected startup, to support the ventures in different areas such as human resources, equipment, inputs, technological services and protection of intellectual property, among others. Eligible projects include those related to new foods, human and animal health, personal care, new biomaterials, energy, biomining, bioremediation, agriculture, new molecular tools and fermentation processes.

The project selection process will be carried out through a competitive process. Eligible projects will be evaluated by an independent panel of experts and venture capital investors, who will assess the relevance, innovation, potential impact and sustainability of each proposal. The selected projects will be financed by the IDB.
