Argentina formalizes its National Sustainable Finance Strategy
The Ministry of Economy has published the National Sustainable Finance Strategy (ENFS) that seeks to promote alternatives to mobilize -in a scalable way- the necessary resources that make it possible to encourage public and private investments that contribute to achieving economic and social objectives within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contemplating the country’s climate change adaptation and mitigation goals.
IDB launches 750 million Canadian dollars 5-year Sustainable Development Bond
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) completed the issuance of new Sustainable Development Bond (SDB) for an amount of CAD 400 million in the Canadian market, marking the return to the CAD market since June 2021.
Ecuador announces world’s largest debt-for-nature swap to protect Galapagos Islands
The Ecuadorian government announced the largest debt-for-nature swap in the world and the most important in human history, which will save the country US$1.1 billion in debt and invest US$450 million to protect the Galapagos Islands.
This operation was supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC).

The Banker has announced the awards for the best deals of the year 2022 in the Americas. Among the award-winning firms and governments are several representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Government of Mexico was recognized in the category “Bonds: Sovereign, Supranational and Agencies” and Uruguay in the category of “Sustainable Finance” for the issuance in October 2022 of the first sovereign bond linked to sustainability (SLB).
